Close by is the pretty village of Goodrich with its two pubs and also Goodrich Castle and tea room (an English Heritage site). The river is a stroll away and within a two mile radius are a wealth of activities and places of interest including Symonds Yat rock, canoeing and kayaking centres, butterfly farm etc.
Located just 5 miles away are the market towns of Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye. Other sites include an Italianate and a thatched church; vineyards with wine tasting and orchards offering cider tasting; a Cider Museum at Hereford and the Mappa Mundi at Hereford Cathedral; caves at the Doward; Nelsons museum in Monmouth and the Sculpture Trail and mountain biking in The Forest of Dean. A little further afield can be found Offas Dyke and the Brecon Beacons.
